The onion ring!

The Onion Ring!

Personally this crisp has got me through some tough times.... coursework, exam revision, ECT! I can't help but have a nice big bag.. or two beside me as my brain slowly goes into melt down from overload. I like to think that the onion ring can delay the occurrence of this to an extent.

Now this is a classic crisp that has been on the table at childrens birthday parties for years. The origin is unknown, although unsurprisingly it is based upon the deep-fried onion rings which are served hot. However, do not be put off if you do not like these as the crisp is completely different in my experience! Like any classic crisp there are several companies that have had their hand at making it so I thought I'd give you my comparison of three made by leading supermarkets.

TESCO: 150g for 99p                                 ASDA: 150g for £1

CO-OPERATIVE 150g for 99p (no image available)

Health wise they are pretty similar in that they are not very good for you... but then if you're a crisp addict you won't really mind about this. Calorie wise the three brands come in very similar with Tesco at 510 kcal, Asda 508 kcal and Co Op 480 kcal (per 100g).

Taste wise they differ slightly in sweetness and crunch factor.

TESCO: this is relatively sweet and has a good crunch and will keep fresh for a few days once opened.

ASDA: this is too sweet for me, the size of the crisp is smaller so it makes it over powering. Crunch is good when opened but tends to go stale quicker than the others.

CO-OP: for me this is the best of the three. It has a good crunch and taste is great. Not overly sweet with an oniony taste.

So there you are, a quick low-down of the onion ring... enjoy!

New Blog?

A few of my friends have recently started a blog so I thought that I'd give it a go... but knowing me I will probably give this up after a few posts!

So what to blog about?

Life is pretty standard, I am a University student that has just completed her second year. Soon to be dropped into the deep end of 3rd year, dissertations and that daunting prospect of the working work which scarily involves becoming an adult! I do not want to bore you to death with the details so my blog (if kept up) will probably not be focussed on this!

Sooooooo what to write about...........................................................

CRISPS!

Now you hear about the chocaholics and the shopaholics well I am a crispaholic!

This blog (if carried on) will give you a crisp addict's insight to the best and worst crisps on the market!

Enjoy!
